Type Locality and Naming

Along Kaplankul Lake, Fergana, Kyrgyzstan. A.S. Telenkov, 1964 (468, p.83). The term is used in a limited sense.

Synonym: Kaplankul Suite, Капланкульская св.

Lithology and Thickness

Brick-chocolate siltstone (aleurolites), pattums with layers of sandstones. Up to 360m.

Lower contact

Lies conformably on Aldyr Fm

Upper contact

Unconformably overlain by Papan Fm or Akburin Fm.

Regional extent

South-East Fergana. V.I. Popov et al. (166) correlate it with the Surkhob suite of Darvaza (Tajikistan), and in North-3. Fergana with the upper part of the gypsiferous suite A2 of N.P. Vasilkovsky's scheme (126). Along B.I. Pinhasov, corresponds to the upper part of the Obchak Fm.
